Recognise him? Well, it’s the most recognisable face in football history as a child – or at least it’s a young actor portraying him in the forthcoming Brazilian film, Pelé!
The movie is about the life of Pele growing up and his role in helping Brazil win the FIFA World Cup™ for the first time at Sweden 1958.
Its star-studded cast includes American actor Vincent D'Onofrio, who starred in the blockbuster film Men in Black and highly-acclaimed drama Law & Order: Criminal Intent, as former Brazil coach Vicente Feola. It also features esteemed Brazilian actors Seu Jorge and Fernando Caruso as Dondinho, Pele’s father and himself a forward striker, and O Rei’s ex-Santos and -Seleção team-mate Zito.
But the biggest search was for two actors to play Pele as a child and a teenager. Producers required two youngsters who resembled him at those ages, could play football to a high standard and spoke English, the original language.
After scouring three continents they eventually settled on Kevin de Paula and Leonardo Carvalho, who is seen in the above photo. Certainly looks like they’ve done a good job!-FIFA.COM
